Liverpool transfers: Mario Balotelli’s agent discusses striker’s future
Mario Balotelli's agent says that the striker is keen to stay and prove himself at Liverpool
Mario Balotelli is keen to stay at Liverpool despite being “very disappointed” with his start to life at Anfield, according to the striker’s agent.
The Italy front-man has failed to find consistent form on Merseyside since his £16m transfer from AC Milan last summer.
He has only managed to score two goals from Brendan Rodgers’ men and has been unable to cement a regular spot in the Reds’ first team.
Balotelli, 24, has been linked with a transfer back to Italy in recent days following his stuttering start to his Anfield career.
However, the striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, says that the forward is keen to stay at the Merseyside club.
“The plan is to continue at Anfield,” Raiola told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I saw him Monday and told him: “You have a four-year contract and I won’t bring you away. Or you leave Liverpool at 60-70 million, and I won my bet, or you’ll die there”.
“It’s the first time I make a speech like that to a player. I’ve seen him quiet, changed, different than Milan.
“Very disappointed with himself, too. He’s going through a bad time like he never had. In Liverpool he hasn’t his spaces: if you don’t make things as they want, you stay out. Then he was broken for eight weeks, he lost the rhythm.”
Balotelli was a second-half substitute as Liverpool were beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge by Chelsea in Tuesday’s League Cup semi-final.
The Merseyside outfit, who are currently eighth in the top-flight table, host West Ham United at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
