Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge ‘desperate for success’ at Anfield
Daniel Sturridge wants to help Liverpool win trophies
Daniel Sturridge has underlined his desire to win silverware with Liverpool ahead of his return from injury.
The 25-year-old striker is hoping to make his return against West Ham United at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
I am just desperate for success right now and I can’t wait to get back out there on the pitch
Sturridge scored 21 top-flight goals as Liverpool finished two points behind Manchester City in the title race last season.
The Reds striker is keen to start winning trophies with the Merseyside outfit as he prepares to put his injury nightmare behind him.
“I am always hungry – and I am not talking about food! I am desperate for success and these moments are ones that open your eyes to what you need to do in life and what you need to do for your career,” Sturridge told Liverpool’s website.
“I am grateful for what I have been through even though a lot of people look at it and say ‘he’s been unlucky’. But these things happen for a reason and everyone goes through certain situations.
“I am just desperate for success right now and I can’t wait to get back out there on the pitch.”
Sturridge has scored 32 goals in 46 Premier League appearances for Liverpool after he joined the club in a £12m deal from Chelsea in January 2012.
The England international was part of Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea squad that won the Premier League title in 2010, scoring one goals in 13 games.
The former Blues striker also made seven appearances in Chelsea’s Champions League-winning campaign, although he failed to score in Europe.
