Man United transfers: Alex Witsel talks up Red Devils move
Alex Witsel admits that he is a keen admirer of Manchester United
Alex Witsel has fuelled the speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United by revealing his admiration for the Premier League club.
The 26-year-old Zenit Saint-Petersburg midfielder has long been linked with a transfer to the Premier League, with the Red Devils touted as a possible destination for him.
Speculation about Witsel’s future gathered pace after Zenit’s elimination from the Champions League.
And his recent comments about United are sure to do nothing to quell the reports linking the Belgium international with a January switch to the Red Devils.
“It’s true that I like the Premier League, because it is one of the best league’s in the world, for me, together with Germany and Spain. It is a very good league, it is a crazy league,” Witsel told Bleacher Report.
“A lot of my colleagues play there, but we will see. I am still young, only 26. We’ll see in the future. I have always liked Manchester United from when I was young.”
Witsel has scored four goals in his 21 appearances for Zenit so far this season. He has 54 Belgium caps to his name and has netted six goals for his country.
Manchester United, who are currently fourth in the Premier League table, have also been linked with a surprise move to bring defender Gerard Pique back to the club from Barcelona in recent days.
