Man United transfers: Gareth Bale responds to Red Devils talk

Gareth Bale plays down suggestions that he could join Manchester United

Gareth Bale has poured cold water on reports linking him with a sensational big-money transfer to Manchester United.

The Real Madrid forward has been touted as a possible target for Louis van Gaal as the Red Devils boss considers bolstering his attacking options at Old Trafford.

However, when asked if joining United could be a possibility, Bale Spanish radio show El Larguero: “For me, no.

“I did an interview recently and I said I’m happy here, I’ve got several years left on my contract and I’m having a good time. We’re winning trophies and I want to stay here.”

The Wales international has been in fine form for Real Madrid this season, scoring an impressive 10 goals 16 Liga appearances for Los Blancos.

Bale is under contract at Madrid until 2019 after joining the Spanish club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013.

He made over 200 appearances for Spurs before his world-record £85m transfer to the Bernabeu and signed a six-year contract with the Spanish club after scoring 26 goals for Spurs in 2012-13.

Manchester United host Leicester City at Old Trafford this weekend as they look to gain revenge for their shock 5-3 loss earlier in the season.
