Man United transfers: Gareth Bale won’t join Red Devils, says Rene Meulensteen
Rene Meulensteen doesn't believe Gareth Bale will want to leave Real Madrid
Rene Meulensteen has poured cold water on speculation linking Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale with a move to Manchester United in the near future.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a big-money switch for the Wales international amid reports that he has been feuding with Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bale, who is a former PFA player of the year winner, completed a £85.3m deal from Tottenham Hotspur to Los Blancos in 2012, signing a contract that runs until 2019.
But ex-United coach Meulensteen can’t envisage the 25-year-old leaving the 10-time European champions any time soon.
“I’m not sure Gareth Bale wants to leave Real Madrid yet,” Meulensteen told talkSPORT. “You can see it in his performances.
“It was a dream move for him to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and other world class players. He’s very happy where he is and it would be very difficult to tempt him away.”
Bale, who scored in last season’s Champions League final, has scored nine goals and made three assists in 15 La Liga appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid side this season.
Despite the Welshman’s slow start to life in the Spanish top flight, the former Tottenham winger has already scored 24 goals in just 42 league appearances.
