Man United transfers: Marquinhos’ agent confirms Red Devils interest
Manchester United want Marquinhos, according to the defender's agent
Manchester United are interested in Paris Saint-Gemrain defender Marquinhos, according to the player’s agent.
The 20-year-old centre-half has struggled to make an impression at the Ligue 1 side after falling behind Brazil pairing Thiago Silva and David Luis under Laurent Blanc.
Marquinhos, who joined the Parisian club in a big-money deal from Roma in 2013, has scored one goal in 11 top-flight appearances, racking up 909 minutes of first-team football.
According to reports in the British media, United manager Louis van Gaal is interested in the PSG star as the 63-year-old looks to bolster his injury-hit defence.
Marquinhos’ agent Guiliano Betolucci confirmed that the 20-time English champions have made enquiries about the PSG defender, backing his client to become a world-class player.
“A number of clubs are asking about him; Manchester United are amongst them,” Bertolucci told Le Parisien.
“He respects the decisions of his coach but he simply wants to play more and spend less time with the substitutes.
“He’s ready to play right-back or defensive midfield if he must. He’s already done it with Roma and even Brazil.
“He will become the best defender in the world. He’s just as good as Thiago Silva and David Luiz.”
Marquinhos has scored six goals in 40 appearances in all competitions following £27m move to the Ligue 1 champions from Roma in July 2013.
The PSG defender wasn’t part of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad last summer.
