Man United transfers: Raphael Varane ‘happy’ at Real Madrid
Raphael Varane is happy to stay at Real Madrid despite Premier League interest
Raphael Varane insists he is happy at Real Madrid despite regularly being linked with a move to the Premier League.
The France international is being touted as a potential United target in recent months as manager Louis van Gaal looked to address the Red Devils’s leaky defence.
Varane has cemented a starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid line-up since his move to the Bernabeu from Lens at the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
And the 21-year-old centre-half underlined his continued happiness at the 10-time European champions despite interest from the Red Devils.
“I am happy, the team is at 100 per cent and my contract runs until 2020,” Varane told Get French Football.
“I am calm. When I’m called on to play I want to do my best.”
Varane has scored six goals in 94 appearances in all competitions since his €10m move from Lens to the Bernabeu.
The French youngster has won La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey during a four-season stay in the Spanish capital.
The Madrid defender made four appearances for France during last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
