Man United transfers: Ronald Koeman denies Red Devils bid for Nathaniel Clyne
Ronald Koeman discusses Nathaniel Clyne's Saints future
Ronald Koeman has denied Manchester United have made a bid for Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
The England international has been linked with a switch to the Red Devils after a series of impressive performances this season, resulting in his first Three Lions cap.
Southampton are keen to tie Clyne down to a new long-term Saints deal, but the two parties are yet to agree terms with the defender’s current contract set to expire at the end of next season.
But Koeman, who was named as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor in the summer, is confident that the 23-year-old full-back will commit to the south coast club in the near future.
“Not any news at the moment, the club is still talking with him to keep him here,” Koeman told his pre-match media conference on Friday.
“A lot of rumours but there has been no bid for Clyne. We’ve had no contact from Manchester United.”
Clyne, who is believed to command a price tag of £15m, has scored two goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season.
Southampton, who are in third place in the Premier League table, face Swansea City at St Mary’s in Sunday’s late kick-off.
