Man United transfers: Trabzonspor confirm Abdul Majeed Waris interest
Trabzonspor plays down talk of Abdul Majeed Waris joining Manchester United in January
Manchester United are among the clubs interested in signing Abdul Majeed Waris, according to the Trabzonspor president.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Ghana international in recent weeks, with the Super Lig side believed to value the striker at £4m.
According to reports in the British media, United assistant manager Ryan Giggs was sent to scout the African, who completed a move to the Turkish club from Spartak Moscow in September.
While Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu confirmed that Premier League duo Stoke City and United are interested, the Trabzonspor president rubbished talk of an imminent move as the forward can’t play for three clubs in the same season.
“Lille and a few English clubs are interested in signing Waris. We know Manchester United are monitoring him too,” Haciosmanoglu is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
“Lille were also interested in Waris before we signed him. However, a player cannot play for three different clubs in one season so he will have to wait until the end of the season.”
The 23-year-old Trabzonspor star has made one assist in nine Super Lig appearances so far this season.
Majeed Waris has scored three goals in 14 games for Ghana, although the striker failed to score at this summer’s World Cup.
