Mesut Ozil thanks his fans for supporting him on social media in recent months

Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to thank his fans for their online support.

The Arsenal playmaker made a positive return to action this month after a lengthy lay-off with a knee injury.

World Cup winner Ozil scored Arsenal’s second goal in the 3-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

And Ozil posted the video above on his Twitter account to thank his followers for their support in recent months.

Ozil shared the video and wrote: “A message to all my fans! #YouAreTheBest.”

The 26-year-old has scored two goals and made two assists in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men so far this season.

He missed three months of the campaign after suffering a knee ligament injury during the defeat by Chelsea at the start of October.

Former Real Madrid star Ozil has almost nine million followers on Twitter and 27 million fans on Facebook.

Ozil will be hoping to feature when Arsenal host Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
