Nabil Bentaleb: Tottenham have good chance of finishing in top four

Nabil Bentaleb says Mauricio Pochettino trusts the Algeria international

Nabil Bentaleb is confident that Tottenham Hotspur have a good shot of finishing in the Premier League top four this season.

Spurs are three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League ahead of their trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

He gave me the chance. It’s going very well. I’m hungry to learn and he’s teaching me every day

The north London side have endured a mixed first season under Pochettino, winning just 11 of their 22 top-flight games but reaching the League Cup last four.

Bentaleb, who is currently on international duty at Africa Cup of Nations, believes Spurs have every chance of sealing a return to the Champions League.

“We know we have a good opportunity to get in the Champions League and we have to keep going,” Bentaleb told Four Four Two.

The 20-year-old made his full debut almost a year ago in Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Bentaleb has started 10 top-flight games under Tim Sherwood’s successor, Pochettino, as well as scoring his first Spurs goal in the League Cup.

And the Algeria international underlined his desire to impress the Tottenham manager, who has had a big impact on the defensive midfielder.

“I work hard in training and he trusts me,” added Bentaleb. “He gave me the chance. It’s going very well. I’m hungry to learn and he’s teaching me every day.”
