Jack Wilshere was thrilled to line up with Robert Pires at Arsenal's training ground on Saturday

Jack Wilshere looked to be in good spirits as he continued his fitness work alongside Arsenal legend Robert Pires on Saturday.

The former France international has been training with Arsene Wenger’s squad and Wilshere looked delighted to be in the company of the 41-year-old.

Wilshere posted the picture above of the duo on his Instagram account and wrote: “Today with the legend #RP7 #JW10.”

Wilshere is expected to make his return from injury next month after his lengthy spell on the sidelines following ankle surgery.

The 23-year-old England international has not featured for the Gunners since sustaining ligament damage in the 2-1 defeat by Manchester United back in November.

However, Wenger revealed last week that he is hopeful that Wilshere will begin full training with his squad in the next 10 days.

Arsenal host Aston Villa in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium on Saturday as they look to keep up their bid for a top-four finish this season.
