Have Liverpool taken desperate measures in a bid to find a solution to their goalkeeper woes?
Liverpool appear to have resorted to desperate measures in a bid to find a solution to their long-term goalkeeper headache.
The Reds missed out on experienced Spain international Victor Valdes earlier this month after the 32-year-old signed an 18-month deal with bitter rivals Manchester United.
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a host of shot stoppers in recent weeks, including Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin, as he looks to provide No1 Simon Mignolet with competition.
But Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho gave being a goalkeeper a shot ahead of the club’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Bolton Wanderers at Anfield on Saturday.
However, we have a sneaky suspicion that Rodgers may opt for his towering 6ft 4ins first-choice goalkeeper Mignolet over the 5ft 7ins Brazil international.
Liverpool’s Instagram posted the above photo and wrote: “Look who’s tried his luck as a goalkeeper in training…@phil.coutinho #LFC”
Rodgers dropped Mignolet following Liverpool’s Champions League exit earlier this season after the Belgium international came under increasing pressure.
However, the former Sunderland man has been reinstated in the Liverpool starting line-up following Brad Jones’ thigh injury during a 1-0 victory over Burnley earlier this month.
