Jordan Henderson congratulates Daniel Sturridge on his goal
Jordan Henderson hailed Daniel Sturridge after the Liverpool striker marked his return with a “bang” against West Ham United.
Sturridge enjoyed the perfect return from thigh injury after he netted within 13 minutes of coming off the bench to give Liverpool’s Champions League ambitions a welcome boost.
The Liverpool vice-captain was clearly delighted for his England colleague as he posted a photo of the striker celebrating his goal with Henderson and Adam Lallana.
Henderson wrote: “Good win today! Great to see @dstudge back with a bang! Well done mate.”
England international Raheem Sterling made the breakthrough in the 51st minute with a cute finish after Philippe Coutinho’s brilliant pass carved open the Hammers defence.
Sturridge, who hadn’t featured for Liverpool since a 3-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur in late August, made his dramatic entrance, scoring his second Premier League goal of the season.
Liverpool hoisted themselves above West Ham and into seventh place ahead of their trip to Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday for their FA Cup fourth-round replay.
