The Liverpool captain praises Daniel Sturridge
Steven Gerrard has hailed Daniel Sturridge’s return from injury and “three big points” after Liverpool’s 2-0 win against West Ham United.
Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling broke the deadlock six minutes after half-time with a brilliant clinical finish past Hammers shot stopper Adrian.
The Reds supporters welcomed Sturridge back into the first-team in 67th minute, and the striker required less than 13 minutes to score against West Ham.
Brazil international Philippe Coutinho found the England international with a clever pass, before Sturridge finished powerfully past Adrian.
Gerrard, who was rested for Saturday’s game despite being on the brink of his 700th Liverpool appearance, reflected on a good day for the Merseyside outfit.
Gerrard wrote: “He’s back big 3 PTS . Well done lads ”
Sturridge, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea in January 2013, has missed the past five months due to a string of calf and thigh injuries.
The Reds star could face his former club Bolton Wanderers in their FA Cup fourth-round replay at Reebok Stadium on Wednesday.
