Roberto Soldado is challenging Spurs to reach the League Cup final
Roberto Soldado took to Instagram to salute Tottenham Hotspur’s performance after their 1-0 League Cup semi-final first-leg win over Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
Andros Townsend’s penalty was all that separated the two sides after the first leg of the last-four clash at White Hart Lane.
Townsend converted his spot-kick after Jay McEveley’s needless handball in the 74th minute in north London.
And Soldado, who was a 65th-minute substitute for captain Emmanuel Adebayor on Wednesday night, posted the photo above on his Instagram account and challenged Mauricio Pochettin’s men to book their place at Wembley ahead of next week’s return leg.
Soldado wrote: “We suffered to win the first battle!!! Next week we have the last 90 minutes to get the final!! Road to Wembley!!!”
The Spanish striker has only managed three goals in all competitions this season and has been linked with a January transfer away from White Hart Lane.
Soldado, who has been touted as a possible target for Bayer Leverkusen, has also only started seven Premier League games for the north London club this term.
