Steven Gerrard can't keep a smile off his face despite needing a 'breather' during training
Steven Gerrard can be forgiven for “taking a breather” during Liverpool’s training session at Melwood on Thursday.
Brendan Rodgers was putting his Reds side through their paces ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round clash against Bolton Wanderers at Anfield on Saturday.
The 34-year-old should feature against the Trotters after the Liverpool manager withdrew Gerrard in the second half of their 1-1 draw with Chelsea mid-week.
However, the Reds captain appeared to be feeling a little bit knackered after the midfielder posted a photo of Thursday’s training on his Instagram page.
Gerrard wrote: “Taking a breather in training today”
Gerrard has won the FA Cup on two previous occasions during his decorated career, memorably carrying Rafael Benitez’s side to glory in 2005.
The Reds midfielder scored two second-half goals, including a last-gasp long-range equaliser, to salvage a 3-3 draw with West Ham in normal time.
The England centurion also converted his spot-kick as Liverpool beat the Hammers courtesy of a dramatic penalty shootout at Millennium Stadium.
