Mario Balotelli appeared to be in good spirits as Liverpool trained at Melwood ahead of their FA Cup clash with Bolton Wanderers.

Brendan Rodgers’ men were put through their paces on Thursday morning as they prepare to welcome the Trotters to Anfield for the fourth-round tie on Saturday.

Balotelli looked to be in good shape as the Italy striker bids to return to action this weekend.

Philippe Coutinho also appeared to be in high spirits ahead of the FA Cup match.

He sat out Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the League Cup due to illness but is understood to be closing in on a comeback.

The 24-year-old forward has managed just one goal for the Reds since joining the club from AC Milan last summer.
