Daniel Sturridge trains with Liverpool squad at Melwood ahead of West Ham clash

Daniel Sturridge trained with the rest of his Liverpool team-mates at a snowy Melwood ahead of the visit of West Ham United on Saturday.

The Reds striker could make his return from a string of calf and thigh injuries at Anfield this weekend after he started to train with the Liverpool squad last weekend.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had hinted that Sturridge could be in line for a return against his former side Chelsea in the Capital One Cup at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

However, the 25-year-old didn’t make the bench as Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic scored a winner in the 94th minute of extra-time to book the Blues’ place in the final.

Sturridge, who joined the Reds from Chelsea in 2013, hasn’t made an appearance for Liverpool since a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in late August.

Meanwhile, Liverpool centre-half Mamadou Sakho trained away from his fellow Reds players on Thursday after the centre-half injured his back during the last-four second-leg clash.

However, the France international confirmed on Twitter that his injury wasn’t serious, adding that he’d join the rest of Rodgers’ squad for training on Friday.
