Arsenal train ahead of their Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Sunday

Jack Wilshere was all smiles as he was pictured in Arsenal training Friday ahead of this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.

The England international has been out injured since late November after undergoing ankle surgery but is now closing in on a return to first-team action.

Manager Arsene Wenger said on Friday that he expects the 23-year-old, who took part in a light session on Friday, to resume full training with his squad in the next 10 days.

Gunners legend Robert Pires was also pictured at London Colney training with Wenger’s squad as they were put through their paces on a cold Friday morning.

Arsenal will be without striker Danny Welbeck for Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa due to a thigh problem but the England forward is expected to return to full training next week.

Alexis Sanchez looks likely to miss Sunday’s game at Emirates Stadium due to a slight hamstring concern, Wenger revealed on Friday.
