Pochettino delivers latest Tottenham injury update ahead of Sheffield clash
Tottenham will again be without Nacer Chadli for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final
Tottenham Hotspur will be without Nacer Chadli for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final tie against Sheffield United, Mauricio Pochettino has revealed.
Chadli was given time off to visit his family after a personal bereavement and missed the first leg at White Hart Lane last week, which Spurs won 1-0.
The Belgium international, who has scored seven goals and made five assists in the Premier League this season, also sat out last weekend’s surprise FA Cup defeat by Middlesbrough.
And Pochettino, who also confirmed that the north London side have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Wednesday’s cup clash, revealed that Spurs are planning to assess Chadli’s situation in the coming day.
“Nacer won’t be available, we need to analyse his situation after 10 days away,” Pochettino told a Tottenham news conference on Tuesday.
“Everyone else is OK and we will decide the squad after training.”
Tottenham are also currently without Nabil Bentaleb, who is away with Algeria at the African Cup of Nations.
Spurs, who are sixth in the top-flight table, travel to West Bromwich Albion in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
