Robin van Persie delights in Chelsea and Man City exits
Robin van Persie was happy to see the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City lose in the FA Cup this weekend
Robin van Persie could not hide his delight after seeing Chelsea and Manchester City crash out of the FA Cup this weekend.
The Blues were stunned by Bradford City at Stamford Bridge, while City were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough at Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Tottenham were also knocked out at the hands of Leicester City.
The shock results came after United were held to a disappointing goalless draw with Cambridge United in their own fourth-round tie on Friday night.
On Saturday, the whole mood changed

But the Dutch striker admitted that seeing some of the other big team struggle gave him a fresh dose of optimism ahead of their replay against Cambridge.
“After the Cambridge game, everyone was a little bit down,” Van Persie told United’s website. “But they played well so you have to give them credit because it’s quite a stunt what they did.
“But in a way, on Saturday, the whole mood changed. Manchester City were out. Chelsea were out and, suddenly, we are in it with a home replay against Cambridge.
“And of the so-called big clubs, with how it is now, it is just us, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham, but we are the highest left in the competition. I think it has been 11 years since United won it last but I think we have a big chance this year.
“We want to win it. But again, we have to look at the first game only, because that is the next game against Cambridge.”
Van Persie, 31, has scored eight goals and made two assists for Manchester United in the Premier League so far this season.
The former Arsenal captain played 23 minutes as United were by Cambridge United on Friday night. The Red Devils’ next game is a home league clash against Leicester City.
