Roy Evans: ‘Consistent’ Liverpool can beat Chelsea
Roy Evans talks up Liverpool's chances of reaching the League Cup final
Roy Evans has backed “consistent” Liverpool to beat Chelsea and book their place in the Capital One Cup final on Tuesday night.
The League Cup semi-final is finely balanced ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash after Raheem Sterling cancelled out Eden Hazard’s first-half opener at Anfield last week.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions, whilst Chelsea suffered a shock 4-2 defeat by League One side Bradford City in the FA Cup at the weekend.
And former Liverpool manager Evans reckons Brendan Rodgers’ side have every chance of getting a winning results against Jose Mourinho’s side in west London.
Speaking to talkSPORT on Tuesday afternoon, Evans said: “Chelsea have been in really good form but Liverpool played one of their best games of the season [in the first leg] and, in my eyes, deserved to win the game.
“It is a big game tonight and I suppose it depends on who wants it the most.
“Liverpool are coming into a bit of form and bit more consistency so that will give them a chance.”
Liverpool haven’t beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since a 2-0 win against the Blues in the League Cup in 2011.
The Reds have won the competition on eight previous occasions, whilst Chelsea have lifted the League Cup four times.
