Tottenham transfers: Pochettino discusses potential January signings
Mauricio Pochettino discusses Tottenham's transfer plans
Mauricio Pochettino says he doesn’t expect there to be a lot of movement at Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer deadline on 2 February.
A number of Spurs stars have been linked with moves away from White Hart Lane in recent days, including the likes of Kyle Naughton and Roberto Soldado.
Meanwhile, the north London club appear likely to miss out on Ukraine international Yevhen Konoplyanka, who is on the brink of a move to Roma.
However, Spurs manager Pochettino is refusing to get distracted by transfer speculation ahead of their League Cup clash against Sheffield United on Wednesday.
“A lot of rumours happen in this period but our focus is not on that – we are focused on tomorrow,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by London24.
“It will happen until the end of the transfer window but we must focus on tomorrow with no distraction,” he added.
“It’s a most important game and we need to be focused on that. We have a lot of games ahead. I don’t believe there will be a lot of movement.
“Every situation is different. It happened with Kyle Naughton, from the beginning of the window. Every situation we need to analyse and decide and what will happen, will happen.
“There are a lot of rumours with players linked with us, moving out and moving in. I think that our focus must be on tomorrow and after this game, we’ll have time to speak about different movements.”
Tottenham take on Sheffield United at White Hart Lane in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final tie on Wednesday night.
Spurs head into the game after beating Sunderland 2-1 at White Hart Lane in their most recent Premier League outing last weekend.
The north London side are currently sixth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United and two behind local rivals Arsenal.
