Tottenham facing massive game, admits Ryan Mason
Ryan Mason is expecting a 'proper cup tie' at Sheffield United
Ryan Mason says Tottenham Hotspur are facing a massive game at Sheffield United on Wednesday.
Spurs take on Nigel Clough’s men in the second leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final at Bramall Lane after a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane last week.
There were a lot of shocks in the FA Cup at the weekend and we’ll take nothing for granted
Mauricio Pochettino’s have added incentive to reach the Wembley final after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat by Leicester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Tottenham midfielder Mason, who signed a new long-term Spurs deal last week, is expecting the Blades to give the north London club a thorough test.
“It will be a proper cup-tie now, a one-off game,” Mason told Tottenham’s website.
“We’ve got a lead from the first leg, I’m sure they will come at us and it will make for an exciting match.
“It’s a massive game for us. There were a lot of shocks in the FA Cup at the weekend and we’ll take nothing for granted, we’ll go there and treat it like a cup final and it is to us anyway, we all want to get to Wembley and play in the final itself.”
The 23-year-old midfielder penned a new five-and-a-half year deal with Tottenham last Thursday, ensuring the England youth star remains at the club until 2020.
Mason made his Premier League debut in the north London derby at The Emirates in September as Spurs drew 1-1 with bitter rivals Arsenal.
The Spurs midfielder has scored one goal and has made two assists in 16 appearances in all competitions for Pochettini’s side.
