Tottenham legend lifts lid on advice for Mauricio Pochettino
Ossie Ardiles wants Mauricio Pochettino to play strong Tottenham side
Ossie Ardiles has revealed that he told Mauricio Pochettino to play his strongest team at Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
Spurs face Nigel Clough’s men in the second leg of their League Cup last-four clash at Bramall Lane after a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane last week.
The north London side suffered a humiliating 2-1 home defeat by Premier League strugglers Leicester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Tottenham legend Ardiles doesn’t want Pochettino to take any unnecessary risks with a place at Wembley up for grabs.
“I believe Tottenham should play with the A-Team. We are one step from Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino certainly knows the importance of Wembley and the importance of being in a final, so I hope he will play the best team and I hope we have a very good result,” Ardiles told talkSPORT.
When quizzed by talkSPORT host Alan Brazil if the former Argentina international had spoken directly to his compatriot, Ardiles added: “I’ve told him already.”
Tottenham are in sixth place in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
Spurs, who are set to take on Fiorentina in the Europa League last-32, make the trip to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
