Mauricio Pochettino hails Chelsea target Juan Cuadrado as a top target
Mauricio Pochettino believes Chelsea target Juan Cuadrado will be a success in the Premier League.
The Colombia international appears to be on the brink of a £23.3m move to the Premier League leaders after Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella indicated that the Blues had agreed a deal for the forward.
e is strong, he is powerful and he is very technical
According to reports in the British media, the 26-year-old underwent a medical at the west London side on Friday ahead of the completion of his much-anticipated switch to the English top flight from Serie A.
Tottenham boss Pochettino, who represented Argentina at the 2002 World Cup, is a big admirer of Fiorentina’s South American playmaker.
“He is a top player. He is a decisive player. He is very strong. I’ve watched him a lot playing for Colombia, his national team,” Pochettino is quoted as saying.
“[Jose] Pekerman and Nestor Lorenzo, the manager and assistant manager for Colombia, are my friends. I speak always about Cuadrado. He is a top player.
“You never know but he has all the attributes to be successful here. He is a very good player. He’s a wing-back. He can play like a winger and like a full-back. He is strong, he is powerful and he is very technical.”
The Fiorentina forward rose to prominence after his impressive performances for Colombia en route to the quarter-finals during the summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
The former Udinese star has scored 20 goals in 85 Serie A appearances for the Florence outfit following his move in 2012.
