Tottenham transfers: Mauricio Pochettino discusses potential signings
Mauricio Pochettino addresses transfer speculation surrounding Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino says he doesn’t expect Tottenham Hotspur to sign any players before the close of the transfer window.
The north London side are yet to dip into the January market despite being linked with Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka and Everton forward Kevin Mirallas in recent weeks.
However, Spurs manager Pochettino poured cold water on speculation linking the League Cup finalists with a move to strengthen their squad before 2 February deadline.
“I am really happy with my squad. I think there is not many movements happening. I believe there will not be too many activities, but in football you never know,” Pochettino told his pre-match media conference on Friday.
Harry Kane’s remarkable form has prompted speculation Champions League holders Real Madrid could launch an audacious bid to bring the England Under-21 international to the Spanish capital.
However, Pochettino emphasised that the 21-year-old’s long-term future is at the White Hart Lane side despite fanciful reports in the British media.
Pochettino added: “There’s no doubt his future is at Tottenham. I’m not worried about that and the supporters don’t need to worry about that.”
Pochettino was also remaining tight-lipped on the suggestion that Hull City boss Steve Bruce could try to lure England winger Aaron Lennon to KC Stadium.
“There’s lot of rumours, so far it’s all rumours and I never comment on rumours,” Pochettino continued.
