Tottenham transfers: Konoplyanka won’t join Roma, says star’s father
Yevhen Konoplyanka won't leave Dnipro before June, says player's father
Tottenham Hotspur target Yevhen Konoplyanka won’t join Roma in January, according to the Dnipro winger’s father.
The Ukraine international has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League over the past 12 months.
He will very probably remain here until his contract expires
Liverpool were close to signing the talented winger last January, however, a deal fell through before deadline day.
Tottenham are believed to retain an interest, and Spurs were dealt a boost after the player’s father claimed the winger wouldn’t leave Dnipro before the summer.
“He probably won’t sign the contract with Roma,” father Oleg Konoplyanka is quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“What I can say is that Roma would really like him to sign it, but my son wants to stay at Dnipro until June and then leave.
“He wants to stay and I think he will very probably remain here until his contract expires.”
Konoplyanka, who wears number 10, has scored four goals and has made two assists in 14 appearances in the Ukrainian Premier League so far this season.
The Dnipro star is yet to find the net in the Europa League, though, despite featuring in all his club’s group games.
The 25-year-old has netted eight goals in 40 appearances for his country, including a long-range strike against England during a 2014 World Cup qualifying match at Wembley.
