Watch Serena Williams confirm world No1 has never gone to Hogwarts

Is Serena Williams auditioning for a role in any future books in the Harry Potter series?

Serena Williams came out with one of the best lines of the Australian Open as the top seed was quizzed by the media following her straight sets win against Dominika Cibulkova.

The American managed to beat her Slovakian opponent 6-2 6-2 despite contending with a virus, which the 18-time Grand Slam champion suggested that she picked up from other players.

Clearly feeling a tad grotty as she faced the media following her quarter-final victory over last year’s Australian Open runner-up, Williams wandered into the magic of Harry Potter as she discussed her fitness.

“I’m not involved in mystics or magic, nor have I ever gone to Hogwarts,” Williams told her post-match media conference on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old is bidding to win her sixth Australian Open title – and first since her 2010 triumph.

The world number one will face fellow American Madison Keys for a place in the Melbourne showpiece.

The 19-year-old beat Serena’s sister Venus 6-3 4-6 6-4 in one hour and 54 minutes to reach her first semi-final.
