Adam Lallana: Liverpool star has frightening ability
Adam Lallana heaps praise on outstanding Philippe Coutinho
Adam Lallana has praised Philippe Coutinho for his excellent run of form after the midfielder signed a new Liverpool contract on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old playmaker put pen to paper on an extended Liverpool deal that will keep him at the Merseyside club until June 2020.
He’ll keep providing for the likes of Raheem [Sterling] and now [Daniel] Sturridge is back
The Brazilian has played brilliantly over the past two months, helping Liverpool notch up a seven-match unbeaten run and close the gap on the top four to just four points.
“The little magician, as people call him, has been outstanding,” Lallana told Liverpool’s website.
“I was injured for a couple of weeks and got to watch him from the stand.
“His natural ability is frightening and it’s great to see. It’s great to be on the pitch with players like that.”
The Brazilian, who has scored 10 goals in 81 appearances for Liverpool, has played a crucial part in his No10 role since joining the club from Inter Milan in 2013 for £8.5m.
Last Saturday he provided two assists for Raheem Stirling and Daniel Sturridge as Liverpool beat West Ham 2-0 at home.
Coutinho’s technique, ball control and creativity are his greatest assets and he has proven to be a very important player for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Lallana feels his teammate’s good run of form will continue and that this will only benefit the Liverpool’s forward line in their coming matches.
“He’ll keep providing for the likes of Raheem [Sterling] and now [Daniel] Sturridge is back,” Coutinho added.
“I’m sure they’re really excited, because he’s at the top of his game and he’s always going to be a match-winning player for us.”
Liverpool travel to the Macron Stadium tonight to face Bolton Wanderers in their FA Cup fourth-round replay, and Coutinho is expected to start as his side look to improve on their last performance against Neil Lennon’s men.
