Alberto Moreno hails Liverpool’s ‘important’ Daniel Sturridge
Alberto Moreno talks up the importance of Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool
Alberto Moreno has talked up the importance of Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool following the striker’s recent return to action.
Sturridge has scored twice in his last five games after returning from his lengthy spell on the sidelines due to thigh and calf injuries.
The England striker netted in Liverpool’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Crystal Palace on Saturday but has yet to complete a full 90 minutes since his return to action.
However, Moreno believes that the 25-year-old has already proved his importance to Brendan Rodgers’ side with his performances since his comeback.
“You just have to watch him play to see how important he is,” Moreno told Liverpool’s website.
“After being injured for so long, he scored a goal with his second touch [against West Ham]. You can see the type of footballer he is from that.
“Sturridge is a top player and everyone on the team was wishing he returned as soon as possible, and he’s done brilliantly.”
Sturridge has scored two goals and made one assist in six Premier League games for Liverpool so far this season.
He made his comeback from injury during the 2-0 win over West Ham United last month after his five-month spell out of action.
