Antoine Griezmann says Arsenal and Spurs didn't make any bids last summer

Antoine Griezmann has revealed there was no firm interest in the Atletico Madrid forward from Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

The France international signed for Los Rojiblancos in a £24m deal after starring for Real Sociedad during the 2013/14 camaign.

The forward has thrived under the tutelage of Diego Simeone, scoring 17 goals this season, and Griezmann insists there was only one club he was in contact with and wanted to play for.

“I do not know anything (about joining other clubs). I have only spoken with Atletico,” Griezmann is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.

“After the first contact with (CEO) Gil Marin, I said I wanted to play with this club.”

Griezmann admitted to Telefoot recently that he endured a difficult start to life at Atletico, but due to hard work in training his performances have improved massively.

“Since Bilbao, when I scored three goals, I am full of confidence and can see that it was worth putting the work in,” Griezmann said.

“At the start, it was difficult because I had always played on the left, and here I am playing up front. But that does not worry me now. I am not worried about my position when I am out on the pitch.”

Griezmann rose to prominence following a prolific five seasons at Sociedad, netting 46 goals in 179 La Liga appearances for the reigning Spanish champions.

The 23-year-old, who has scored four times in 14 games for France, was part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for last summer’s World Cup.
