Arsenal

David Ospina The Arsenal goalkeeper had no chance at stopping either of Monaco’s first two goals, but was unable to get a strong enough hand to prevent the third goal. 6/10

Hector Bellerin Caught of position on occasion and did not provide much of his usual attacking threat. 5

Per Mertesacker A poor evening for the centre-half. Although he couldn’t do much to stop Monaco’s first goal, he certainly was at fault for the second. The German ventured forward leaving acres of space behind for the counter-attack which led to Berbatov’s goal. 4

Laurent Koscielny A solid game, especially considering the score line, and he was let down by his fellow defenders. 6

Kieran Gibbs Not as assured as usual and looked uncomfortable at times due to the pace of Monaco’s attacks. 5

Francis Coquelin An average performance as he struggled to contain the oppositions attack. 5

Santi Cazorla The Spaniard showed silky feet early on, which wasn’t a surprise due to his surge in confidence thanks to his recent form. However, he struggled to create chances for his attacking team-mates. 6

Alexis Sanchez The former Barcelona man was kept quiet and failed to make an impact in the final third of the pitch. 5

Mesut Ozil A quiet evening for the German as he drifted in and out of the game. His final ball was unusually poor. 5

Danny Welbeck Used out on the wing, the England international got down the flanks well but not often enough to really trouble the Monaco defence. 5

Olivier Giroud A frustrating match for Giroud, who got on the end of some good opportunities but failed to take his chances. Was substituted on the hour mark. 5

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Gave Arsenal a chance going into the second leg with a beautifully curled shot from the edge of the 18-yard box. Was at fault for Monaco’s third goal. 6

Monaco

Danijel Subasic Despite conceding a fine goal, the goalkeeper was rarely tested throughout the game. 6

Elderson Echiejile Struggled early on to deal with Welbeck’s pace but grew as the game went on. 6

Wallace Had a solid performance and was reliable when called upon. 7

Aymen Abdennour A great display at the heart of the defence. He commanded the line well and wasn’t afraid to get a challenge in. 8

Almamy Toure A respectable individual performance as he did well aiding his team in the midfield and defence. 7

Fabinho Rarely ventured forward but fulfilled his defensive duties well. 6

Joao Moutinho (Man of the Match) Showed his quality and strength as he controlled and dictated the tempo of the attack from midfield. 9

Geoffrey Kondogbia Gave Monaco an unexpected lead. Unmarked 25 yards from goal, he let loose a low fierce shot, which took a slight ricochet of Mertersacker. Was strong and resolute at the heart of the midfield. 8

Nabil Dirar Utilised his pace well throughout the match on the counter attack. 6

Anthony Martial The youngster had a good game most notably charging down the wing, with acres of space, before assisting Berbatov for Monaco’s second. 7

Dimitar Berbatov Had a top performance on his return to north London. As Monaco’s leading goal-scorer, the Bulgarian added another showing great composure to fire in Monaco’s second. 8

Substitutes

Layvin Kurzawa N/A

Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco Punished Arsenal with a low fierce strike to the far post with virtually the last kick of the game. 7
