Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger not concerned about Man United fixture
Arsene Wenger insists that he is not concerned about Arsenal's FA Cup clash with Manchester United behind scheduled for a Monday
Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is not worried about Arsenal’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United being scheduled for a Monday night.
The Gunners will take on Louis van Gaal’s side at Old Trafford in the last eight of the competition on Monday 9 March in a game that will be televised on the BBC in the UK.
Questions have been raised about the suitability of the fixture for away fans needing to travel back to London after the game.
However, Wenger insists that his side will give everything to beat the Red Devils and book their place in the semi-finals at Wembley.
Speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Friday morning, Wenger said: “We play when we are told to play, [whether it] is a Monday or Sunday or Friday.
“We just want to win, and we adapt to the time. I don’t think that will be a major problem for us. It’s certainly not the most prestigious timing for people who want to watch on television.
“It’s more suited maybe for a Sunday game, but television has made that choice. We’ll adapt and have no problem with it.”
Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in the most recent Premier League clash between the two sides at Emirates Stadium back in November.
The Gunners travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
