Moussa Sissoko speaks about his admiration for Arsenal and his long-term Newcastle future
Moussa Sissoko says he is happy to stay at Newcastle United despite his affection for Arsenal.
Sissoko didn’t manage to add to his Premier League tally on Saturday as the Magpies were impressive 3-0 winners against Hull City at KC Stadium.
The 25-year-old has stoodout for the Magpies despite a turbulent season for the club so far, scoring two goals and making one assist in 20 appearances.
The France international previously spoke of his love for Arsenal, and Sissoko reiterated his stance as he revealed his football his idol, Patrick Vieira.
“Arsenal made me dream when I was a youngster. Patrick Vieira was my idol. I saw myself in him,” Sissoko told BeIn Sports.
When quizzed about reported interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, Sissoko was quick to add that he is expects to stay at Newcastle:
“You will have to ask my agent. For now, I’m a Newcastle player and I am happy at the club.
“I want to play in major competitions and I want to do it with this team.”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is being linked with a host of defensive midfielders, including Juventus star Paul Pogba and Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira.
Sissoko, who has scored one goal in 27 appearances for les Bleus, joined Newcastle from Toulouse in a £1.7m deal in 2013.
The Magpies star has scored eight goals in 60 Premier League appearances following his switch to the north east club in 2013.
