Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger plays down talk of Premier League title bid
Arsene Wenger pours cold water on talk of Arsenal winning the Premier League
Arsene Wenger has attempted to play down talk of Arsenal challenging for the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners were emphatic 5-0 winners against Aston Villa on Sunday thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Hector Bellerin at The Emirates.
I believe that we should try to be consistent and see what happens

Arsenal moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table and 11 points behind current leaders Chelsea ahead of next weekend’s north London derby at Tottenham Hotspur.
Although Arsenal have won five of their six games, Wenger insisted that talk of the FA Cup winners launching a title bid is still premature.
Speaking after his side’s 5-0 rout, Wenger is quoted as saying: “It’s too early to say [that Arsenal can still have a say]. We are 11 points behind – that means they need to lose four games and we need to win four,” he told reporters.
“I believe that we should try to be consistent and see what happens. I told you, you asked me my predictions [for the Chelsea v Manchester City game].
“I said a draw and I was not wrong because Chelsea had one shot on target and Manchester City three or four. It was a draw.”
Arsenal have responded in emphatic fashion following a 2-0 loss to Southampton on New Year’s Day, winning their last five games in all competitions.
The Gunners were emphatic 2-0 winners against defending Premier League champions Manchester City at The Etihad Stadium last month.
