Santi Cazorla is named the PFA player of the month for January after an impressive start to the year for the Spaniard
Santi Cazorla has been named the PFA fans’ player of the month for January.
The award, powered by the football platform 90min, comes following Cazorla’s great form for Arsenal last month.
The Spanish midfielder scored one goal and provided one assist to help Arsenal challenge for a top four place in the Premier League.
Cazorla helped Arsenal to a 3-0 win at the start of the month at home to Stoke and then put in a man-of-the-match performance against defending champions Manchester City as Arsenal beat them 2-0 at The Etihad. Cazorla scored the first goal from the penalty spot and then set up the second for team-mate Olivier Giroud to seal the victory.
He also provided an assist during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Hull in the FA Cup third round, before scoring and providing two assists in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend.
Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table having won two out of three games in January and travel to north London rivals Tottenham this weekend.
The PFA fans’ player of the month awards are designed to give a strong voice to the supporters who are the lifeblood of the game. The awards are endorsed by the players and supported by the clubs.
One lucky fan voter will be chosen to present Cazorla with the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award in person later this month.
