Branislav Ivanovic is confident that Chelsea have what it takes to beat Tottenham and win their first piece of silverware since Jose Mourinho’s return to the west London club.

The Blues take on Spurs in the League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon after having battled past Liverpool in the semi-finals of the cup competition.

Chelsea are the heavy favourites to win the Premier League this season and are also competing in the Champions League last 16.

And Blues defender Ivanovic is backing the experience of Mourinho’s side to be a key factor in Sunday’s clash in north London.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Ivanovic said: “We know what we have to do.

“It’s definitely going to be a very tough game but we are ready and we are looking forward to it. We want it. You have this special feeling inside you when a final is coming and we all want the game to start right now.

“I think our team like to play these kinds of games. Everyone at this club knows how to play finals.

“Footballers want to play finals, footballers want to win trophies. That’s why we are here.”

Ivanovic has been a key player for the Blues so far this season, scoring four goals and notching up three assists in 26 Premier League games this term.

He also scored Chelsea’s goal as the west London side secured a 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash last week.
