Chelsea transfers: Andre Schurrle running out of time, say Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg warn Andre Schurrle deal may not go through
Andre Schurrle is running out of time to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg, according to the Bundesliga club.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to his native Germany ahead of the anticipated arrival of Juan Cuadrado at Stamford Bridge in a reported £23.3m deal.
Schurrle has been touted as a potential target for Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, but a Bundesliga move appears most likely.
Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs warned that Schurrle’s potential move to the Wolves could fall through ahead of the 13.00 GMT deadline to register players on DFL’s transfer list.
“We have not reached an agreement at the moment,” Allofs told Wolfsburger Nachrichten. “Time is running out, and there are less and less options from hour to hour.”
Schurrle has scored three goals in 14 Premier League appearances this season, although the forward has racked up just 433 top-flight minutes.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man has struggled to dislodge Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up.
Schurrle was part of Germany’s World Cup-winning side in Brazil last summer.
