Chelsea transfers: Benedikt Howedes hints at Schalke exit
Benedikt Howedes reveals that he would like to move to the Premier League should he end up quitting Schalke
Benedikt Howedes has fuelled the speculation linking him with a transfer to Chelsea by admitting that he could be set to leave Schalke at the end of the season.
The defender has been heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge in recent months, with both Arsenal and Manchester United also touted as possible destinations for the centre-half.
Now, the £17m-rated Germany international has opened the door to a potential move to Chelsea by admitting that the Premier League would be his preferred destination should he end up leaving the Bundesliga outfit.
Howedes is quoted as saying by Metro: “I owe Schalke a lot, I have had a great experience during my time here.
“However, if I were to imagine moving abroad to experience a life in a foreign country, England would be my destination.”
Howedes, 26, has scored two goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke so far this season. He also netted once in the Champions League group stage for the German club.
