Darren Anderton has hailed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen as great to watch ahead of Saturday’s north London derby.

The Denmark international has kicked on during his second season in the Premier League by netting nine goals in 23 games this term.

The 22-year-old midfielder has developed a reputation for scoring spectacular goals during his spell at White Hart Lane, proving particularly deadly from set-piece situations.

Former Tottenham winger Anderton was known for his precise left-footed free-kicks during his Spurs career, and the Lilywhites legend heaped praise on the £12m signing.

Asked about Eriksen’s impact at White Hart Lane, Anderton exclusively told The Sport Review: “[He is] brilliant, great to watch.

“I think all fans, ex-players, players, all like to see those spectacular goals and free-kicks and he’s been doing it week-in-week-out and ever since he’s come really, he’s been fantastic at it and the goal against Sheffield Unite was really, really special.”

Eriksen, who joined Spurs from Ajax in 2013, has scored 10 goals and has made one assist in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.

But the Spurs midfielder still has some way to go before emulating Anderton’s 34 Tottenham goals during a Lilywhites career spanning from 1992 until 2004.
