David De Gea and Ander Herrera pay tribute to Darren Fletcher
David De Gea paid tribute to Darren Fletcher after the midfielder swapped Manchester United for West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day.
The Scotland international has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Baggies as Tony Pulis snapped up the experienced midfielder on a free transfer.
Fletcher, who made 342 Red Devils appearances, won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups during a 12-year United career.
Goalkeeper De Gea led the tributes to the popular 31-year-old on photo-sharing app Instagram, thanking the Scot for all his support since the shot stopper moved to Old Trafford.
De Gea posted the above photo and wrote: “Thanks for your football, for your support, for everything since I got here. Good luck in your new team! #ThankYouFletch”
Red Devils full-back Rafael da Silva played alongside Fletcher for the best part of seven years at Old Trafford, and the Brazilian hailed the midfielder as a father figure.
Rafael added: “thank you for everything you did for me in this club a friend a father in my beginning a legend that will never be forgotten in this club. thank you Darren fletcher @manchesterunited”
Finally, Fletcher even managed to leave a lasting impression on United’s summer signing Ander Herrera as the former Athletic Bilbao man tweeted a message to the new Baggies signing.
Herrera added: “Good luck with your new adventure. Thanks for helping me so much from day one. All the best mate! #ThankYouFletch”
