De Gea, Rojo and more: Man United stars react after Burnley win
David De Gea and Marcos Rojo reflect on Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Burnley
Marcos Rojo admitted Manchester United played a tough match against Burnley after the Red Devils limped to a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The hosts appeared to be coasting to victory after Chris Smalling broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, but Danny Ings levelled just six minutes later.
The United centre-half remarkably restored the home side’s lead on the stroke of half-time before Robin van Persie netted a late penalty to seal three points.
Argentina international Rojo took to Instagram following the win to reflect on a difficult game despite facing a side 16 places below the 20-time English champions in the table.
Rojo posted the above photo and wrote: “Difficult match but a great victory. Thank You for the great support”
United captain Wayne Rooney echoed Rojo’s sentiments after the 29-year-old posted on the photo-sharing app following a tough evening for the home side.
Rooney said: “Tough game tonight but we showed great spirit and got the win. Well done to Chris Smalling on his two goals!”
Finally, United goalkeeper David De Gea was turning his attentions to the FA Cup ahead of their fifth-round clash against Preston North End on Monday evening.
De Gea added: “Another win at Old Trafford! Now focus on FA Cup! Thanks for your support!”
