Francis Coquelin happy to be vocal and organise Arsenal players
Francis Coquelin says he has no issues with being one of Arsenal's more vocal players
Francis Coquelin insists that he has no qualms about bossing around his Arsenal team-mates if it means more clean sheets for the Gunners.
The French midfielder has been in good form for Arsene Wenger’s men since his return from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic.
Everyone’s fighting for each other and the team spirit is good
Coquelin, who has recently agreed a new Arsenal contract, has made 10 Premier League appearances for the Gunners so far this season.
And the 23-year-old says that he is quite happy to be vocal on the pitch as he looks to organise the north London side’s rearguard.
“If it needs to be said, I’m the one saying it,” Coquelin said in an interview with Arsenal’s website. “Everyone can tell everyone off so that’s a good thing.
“Everyone’s fighting for each other and the team spirit is good so everyone can say what they think.
“With every player we’ve got going forward, you need someone with a defensive mindset as well.
“If I can give the team a good balance – because we’ve got quite a few players going forward – hopefully we can get back to keeping more clean sheets soon.”
Coquelin played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal edged to a nervy 2-1 win over Leicester City at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
He has started seven games for Arsene Wenger’s side since the turn of the year.
Arsenal’s next game is a home clash with Middlesbrough in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
