Glenn Hoddle is hoping that Harry Kane peaks at just the right time to lead Tottenham to glory in the League Cup final against Chelsea.

Kane has been in inspired form this season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions, while Christian Eriksen has supported him well with 11 goals.

Hoddle knows how important both of them are to Spurs and believes that Kane can really hurt Chelsea if he plays to his potential.

“Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane are obviously the two,” Hoddle told Sky Sports. “Eriksen has come up with some important goals and Kane is on fine form, but can he peak in a cup final?

“That’s what every Spurs fan wants. I don’t think there’s pressure on him, he just goes out and does his stuff. He’s young and hasn’t put any pressure on himself.”

Spurs were knocked out of the Europa League by Fiorentina 3-1 on aggregate but Mauricio Pochettino says they must recover quickly from that defeat, and turn their focus to the game against Chelsea.

“This one was the first final for us and all players are disappointed, but now we need to look forwards, to recover quickly, because on Sunday we have another game,” Pochettino told his post-match news conference on Thursday.

The last time these two sides met was at White Hart Lane where Spurs won an entertaining clash 5-3, and Hoddle believes that result will give them the confidence they need going into the final.

He added: “I don’t think that result will have an impact on Chelsea, but will on Spurs. It will give them that belief they can beat Chelsea in a one-off game.”

Spurs are currently seventh in the Premier League table and three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United as they look to break back into the top four this season.
