Fraser McKenzie and Alex Toolis have joined Glasgow Warriors on loan from rivals Edinburgh.

The second row duo have been drafted in as cover for the Warriors depleted forward pack with Tim Swinson joining Jonny Gray in Vern Cotter’s Scotland squad for the RBS 6 Nations.

McKenzie, who has made 40 appearances for the Gunners either side of spells in England with Sale Sharks and Newcastle Falcons, is available for the Warriors’ game against the Ospreys on Saturday before returning east, while Toolis will remain in Glasgow for an undisclosed short-term spell.

The Warriors have also added Heriot’s back-rower Jason Hill, who scored for the Scotland Club XV in the recent win over Ireland, to their training squad.

“We’d like to thank Edinburgh Rugby for loaning us Fraser and Alex and we’re also very grateful to Heriot’s,” said Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend.

“It’s a great opportunity for Jason to train with us and we look forward to involving him more during the season.

“We’d like to welcome all three players to the club.”
