Juan Mata: Why Man United ‘enjoyed’ victory over Leicester City
Juan Mata says that Manchester United were able to 'enjoy' their win over Leicester City more than other games
Juan Mata says that Manchester United’s early dominance allowed the Red Devils to relax and enjoy their 3-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday.
The Red Devils found themselves 3-0 up at half-time at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Wes Morgan’s own goal.
And the Spanish playmaker believes that the nature of the victory meant that Louis van Gaal’s men were able to better “enjoy” the game under less pressure.
“Against Leicester we were able to take our good chances in the first half, and that allowed us to have a quiet game and to enjoy it more than other weeks,” Mata wrote on his blog.
“We don’t want to relax though. Every game is complicated: see what happened to Bayern after the Bundesliga break.”
Sunday’s win lifted United up to third place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind leaders Chelsea after 23 games.
They take on Cambridge United in their FA Cup fourth-round replay at Old Trafford on Tuesday, before a trip to West Ham United in the Premier League next weekend.
Spain international Mata has scored five goals and made three assists in the Premier League for United so far this season. He has started 17 games for the Red Devils this term.
