Liverpool transfers: Arda Turan set for Atletico exit, says agent
Arda Turan is ready to leave Atletico in the summer, says agent
Arda Turan is set to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, according to the forward’s agent.
The 28-year-old has been in and out of the first-team this season, and reports in Spain suggest that he is ready to quit the La Liga champions.
The Atletico star’s agent Ahmet Bulut believes Turan will be at the right age to move on and pursue success elsewhere in Europe in the summer.
“At the end of the season, Arda Turan will be 28, it is the right time for a transfer,” Bulut told Mundo Deportivo.
“That is what we think. The transfer should be made to one of the top eight teams in Europe. If not, no.”
The Turkey international has been linked with English clubs in the past, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, and his potential availability is expected to draw interest from the Premier League.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a midfielder to replace captain Steven Gerrard, who is leaving Anfield at the end of the season.
Arsene Wenger could also attempt to bring Turan to Arsenal ,whilst Louis van Gaal is also in the market with a reported £150m transfer funds at his disposal.
Other European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, AC Milan and AS Roma are also likely to register in the £22m-rated midfielder.
Roberto Mancini is still in the hunt for midfield reinforcements as he looks to strengthen his Inter Milan side.
Turan joined Atleti from Galatasaray in 2011 for around £10m, and the Turk has played a pivotal role in the club’s rise to success in recent years.
During his time in Madrid he has won the Uefa Super Cup, Copa Del Rey and La Liga.
