Liverpool transfers: Edinson Cavani commits to PSG

Edinson Cavani insists he is happy at Paris Saint-Germain

Edinson Cavani has attempted to end speculation linking the Paris Saint-Germain striker with a move to the Premier League.

The Uruguay international has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in recent months amid reports that he isn’t happy in the French capital.

The 27-year-old has scored 16 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season, racking up over 1,600 minutes of first-team football.

However, Cavani continued to be linked with a move away from PSG despite his impressive form throughout the January transfer window.

After a move failed to materialise, the South American has spoken out about his future at the Ligue 1 champions, insisting that he is happy at the Parisian club.

“Today I’m great here in Paris,” Cavani is quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “My family and I are happy and every time they come and watch me play, they enjoy.

“We have a great team. Like I said, there is a nice project backing the club and I’m finding my way in Paris. I want to give them the best.

“I hope I can give the best to this club and repay the confidence the president placed in me when he signed me. I want to build on the confidence the coach gives me and that he also gives to my teammates.”

Cavani joined cash-rich PSG in 2013 in a reported £50m deal from Serie A outfit Napoli.

The PSG striker has scored 24 goals in 49 Ligue 1 appearances for the club since his big-money switch.
